Giving and Receiving: How Business Owners Do Better Business By Doing Good!
In this valuable program, Gloria Campos, co-anchor of News 8 at 6 and News 8 at 10, and producer of "Wednesday's Child" on WFAA-TV/Channel 8 in Dallas, Texas discussed how business owners are doing right by their businesses by giving back and becoming more involved in the community around them. This luncheon also served as NAWBO D/FW's official Southern Area Kick-off.

Sue Wallace discussed the latest news and information for the business community about how the Baby Boomers mean business. When the baby boomers begin to turn 65 in 2011, our society will experience rapid growth in the senior population to the tune of 10,000 per day.

Women business owners took time out of their busy day to network with other women business owners in a relaxed and beautiful evening luau setting at the Las Colinas Country Club. The group also enjoyed a presentation and lessons from the Odyssey Theatrical Hula dancers.

"Trinity River Vision" included a talk from Linda Christie of the Tarrant Regional Water District, who discussed the latest news and information for the business community about the exciting Trinity River Vision project. The master plan impacts 88 miles of the river and tributaries throughout greater Fort Worth.

"Hire, Fire, Retire: What small businesses must know today about new laws" included a presentation from Angela Henry Robinson of Law, Snakard & Gambill in Fort Worth. Angela shared an insider’s view on: How to avoid legal troubles in regard to hiring and firing and How to prepare for an employee’s retirement.

"Ethics Policies are not an Option" included a presentation from Shannon Shipp, the nationally-recognized marketing director of Texas Christian University. Shannon shared what small businesses need to know about doing what's right and how it must be defined and displayed in legally binding ethics policies.
