When and
why did you join NAWBO?
I joined NAWBO in September 2004 for the networking and learning
opportunities with other professional women and business owners.
Committee
involvement: I have not joined any committees, but would
be interested in learning more about doing so.
Impact
has NAWBO had on your business or professional development: It has provided significant networking
and personal growth opportunities with other NAWBO members.
The best advice you've received:
The best career advice I have received is to determine what
you enjoy doing best in your career and find a way to spend most
of your working time doing it. I received this advice from my
mentor at my law firm.
Advice or strategies: As a
working mom, I try to accomplish multiple tasks with any event
that requires time away from my family (such as a networking event
involving a cause that I support or that I enjoy for the social
interaction).
What
brings you joy in your work? Helping, advising and connecting
with people who need my assistance.
What brings
you joy in your personal life? Or What are your interests/hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my husband
and baby daughter. Also, I am an avid fiction reader and book
club member, enjoy volunteering and love traveling to new places.
Charity support: I have
been a member of the Junior League of Dallas and involved with
a number of charities through the Dallas League for over 8 years,
including Habitat for Humanity, Contact Crisis and Counseling
and the Genesis Women's Shelter.
Other organizations:
Junior League of Dallas, Dallas Estate Planning Counsel, and Dallas
Bar Association.
What else would you like
your NAWBO peers to know about you: I am a first generation
American from a multicultural family.
Book recommendations:
For pleasure, I recommend Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa
Lahiri, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, and Memoirs
of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.
