Our world continues to expand across borders and boundaries. Today, many of us routinely do business or compete with people around the globe. The opportunities of our diverse world give each of us the ability to grow personally and professionally. They also enable us to expand our businesses.

Dallas County’s Sheriff Lupe Valdez is a real-life, close-to-home example of the opportunities all of us can have in this global environment—no matter what our backgrounds. After working 28 years in federal and state law enforcement, Sheriff Valdez was elected as Dallas County’s first woman sheriff. She is also the county’s first Hispanic sheriff and possibly the first child of migrant farm workers to achieve Dallas County’s top law enforcement position.
