“Where We Are Now”

The NAWBO DFW Chapter is celebrating 25 years of the entrepreneurial spirit of women in the Metroplex!  Our three-part anniversary celebration commenced with our June Gala entitled, “Where we have Been,” in which past Chapter presidents reunited to share the legacy of our DFW Chapter and how it has made a significant impact in women owned businesses in our community.  These leaders were activists who took chances, changed the perception of traditional women’s roles and created change in public policies on a National level.

The second part of the series will focus on how NAWBO continues to be relevant today and continues to tell the stories of successful women entrepreneurs, discuss the current economic conditions affecting women owned business and how our work is not complete.

Our special speaker is Terri F. Maxwell, President and CEO of Succeed on Purpose. She will speak on “The Top 3 Mistakes Business Owners Make That Keep Them from Financial Freedom.”

About Terri F. Maxwell

Terri has been a successful business owner and marketing executive for 25 years.  Her company is a unique “purpose driven” business incubation firm.  Succeed on Purpose teaches participants how to find their purpose.  When that purpose involves a business, Succeed on Purpose will assist with launching the new business concept through its Business Incubation Services.  Terri has personally launched over twenty successful businesses and has coached hundreds of entrepreneurs to a six-figure income in their own business.

Prior to launching Succeed on Purpose, Terri led Prodigy Communication’s Internet marketing subsidiary to record-setting growth in the 1990s.  In 2002, she started her own 40-person marketing consulting firm – LATIMARK — which serviced some of the largest brands in the world;  companies such as Target, Nokia, Texas Instruments and 7 Eleven.

She also built three successful sales organizations, and was named one of the top female leaders in the direct selling industry.  Terri is a well-known motivational speaker and a transformational specialist.  She graduated with honors from University of Texas at Dallas’ MBA program in 2004 and obtained her B.S. from Indiana University SE with honors in 1987.
